This update was first published when we were operating solely as Garçon Wines. Our packaging business line is now operating as Packamama.
We are pleased to welcome Enrique Belda to the advisory team in the role of Market Development Advisor – Spain. Enrique is an entrepreneur, always looking for new opportunities, thinking how to create new value and how to do things in a more efficient way – an ideal match for our innovative and efficient wine packaging. He has a strong commitment to taking care of the planet and a passion for the wine industry, where he has a wide background, having previously held the position of Business Innovation Manager at leading Spanish wine company, Familia Torres. This combination of experience and passion makes him a valuable addition to the Garçon family to help accelerate growth in Spain.
As we continue to expand our multinational presence, Enrique will be helping the team to understand the market opportunity in Spain, acting as the main point of contact for companies operating in the country. The market is of interest for both domestic sales and for exports, given that Spain is the third largest global producer of wine. Additionally, the country is of interest as the UK drank the equivalent of around 170 million bottles of Spanish wine in 2019, with Spain being the fourth biggest importing country of wine by volume into the United Kingdom that year.
Santiago, CEO & Co-founder, said: “Spain is a very important country when it comes to accessible, quality wines. It is one of the leading wine producers of great value, offering well-made wines at affordable prices which appeal to a broad range of consumers. Two of the top three of the world’s most admired wine brands in 2021 are from Spain. What Australia offers drinkers from the New World, Spain achieves the same from the Old World. For this reason, I am pleased to welcome Enrique into our business as Market Development Advisor for Spain. With nearly 15 years at Familia Torres, a leading producer that should need no introduction, including nearly 8 years as their Business Innovation Manager, and a background in corporate finance and business management, he is the right person for us in Spain. We are looking forward to working together to grow our business locally.”
Enrique joins existing Market Development Advisor for Australia, Matt Moate. We have plans to expand our team of international advisors, with further advisors for the USA and South Africa joining imminently.
