CUDAL, NSW, 6th December 2023 — Packamama, in collaboration with Tamburlaine Organic Wines, is delighted to announce the launch of a cutting-edge bottling facility near Orange in Cudal, New South Wales, Australia. This innovative facility, equipped with a state-of-the-art GAI monoblock bottling line installed in the second half of this year, marks a significant milestone in sustainable and advanced bottling solutions for Packamama’s eco-flat bottles.
Situated in the heart of the Orange Wine Region, the purpose-built Cudal winery (pictured above) has been a cornerstone in supporting the region’s wine production expansion over the past two decades.
The name “Cudal”, with its potential origin from an Aboriginal word in the local Wiradjuri language meaning ‘flat’, holds cultural significance and Packamama relevance, adding a unique dimension.
Key Features of the New Bottling Facility:
- Eco-Flat Bottle Contract Packing: The facility serves as a contract packing hub, allowing wine producers, brand owners, or retailers to leverage Packamama’s eco-flat bottles in Australia.
- Cutting-Edge GAI Monoblock Bottling Line: At the heart of the facility is a state-of-the-art GAI monoblock bottling line, featuring advanced functionalities like nitrogen purging before filling, a 32-head filler, and Novatwist application with nitrogen in the headspace before capping.
- Precision Labelling with Diverse Options: The labeller enables precise labelling across the flat panels, accommodating a variety of shapes and sizes. Automation efficiently packs bottled wines into 9-litre cases and palletizes them.
- High Efficiency and Capacity: The bottling line (pictured below) has demonstrated its capabilities by successfully filling around 100,000 Packamama bottles already, at a speed of approximately 4,000 – 4,500 bottles per hour.
The launch of Tamburlaine’s new Lizard Drinking branded organic wines in Packamama’s eco-flat bottles—the first brand to be bottled at the state-of-the-art facility—has received overwhelmingly positive feedback. “Since launching our first rPET packaged wine range in October, the customer response at our cellar door, once they handle the product and taste the wine quality, is overwhelmingly positive. This is in stark contrast to the initial low rate of consumer acceptance of screw caps versus cork more than 20 years ago. After commissioning the new line, the first runs were impressive, achieving necessary commercial speeds and delivering wine quality in the bottle”, said Mark Davidson, Managing Director and Head of Grape & Wine Production at Tamburlaine Organic Wines.
Santiago Navarro, CEO & Founder of Packamama, who was present for the bottling over several days, just over a month ago, of some of Tamburlaine’s wines and also wines of another of their customers, added “It is motivating to see how a new bottling line designed specifically for our bottles can run them through smoothly, speedily, and consistently.
